Welcome to The Hemp & Cannabis Foundation Online

Contents Updated Last on 01/06/09

The Hemp & Cannabis Foundation is working to educate the public about the truth concerning hemp and cannabis as well as helping medical marijuana patients. We have several clinics where our doctors help patients obtain a permit for medical marijuana.

We see patients at our clinics in Oregon at Portland, Eugene, Bend and Medford, in Washington state at Seattle, Spokane, Kennewick and Vancouver/Portland, in Hawaii at Honolulu, Hilo and Kapaa, in Colorado at Denver, Durango and Glenwood Springs, in Nevada at Las Vegas and at Riverside in California. We recently opened clinics in Missoula and Billings, Montana as well as Southfield, Michigan. We have helped over 50,000 patients obtain a permit to legally possess, use and grow medical marijuana.

Under state law in Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, California, Nevada, Montana and Hawaii, the following conditions qualify for medical marijuana permits: Chronic Severe Pain, Glaucoma, Cancer, AIDS/HIV, Chronic Muscle Spasms, Multiple Sclerosis, GERD, Seizure Disorders, Crohn’s Disease, Chronic Nausea, Cachexia, Asthma, IBS, Hepatitis C, Parkinson’s Disease, Arthritis, and many others.

All of our physicians are fully licensed, experienced, well informed and compassionate. Our staff explains each state’s unique program and helps patients locate community resources so they can best benefit from their state’s medical cannabis law.

OMMA is Under Attack! Stand Up for Your Medical Rights!

Each of us has one small voice, but together we are a giant roar that can shake the hall of the State Capitol! Please let your voice be heard. Send an email or a fax, make a phone call or write a letter to the Drugfree Workgroup and Dan Harmon today and ask them to treat all disabled Oregonians with dignity and respect including medical marijuana patients.

Washington's medical marijuana law marks 10 years

The first step for patients before drug deals in parking lots or secretive meetings in a church — is to get permission to use cannabis from one special source: a doctor.

Michiganders go to clinic seeking pot to dull pain Southfield

Getting high was the furthest thing from their minds as some of Michigan's first legal medical marijuana users lined a Southfield waiting room Thursday. Michigan became the 13th state to allow the use of medical marijuana to treat debilitating illnesses after voters approved it in November. A licensed physician must grant approval before patients can use the otherwise illegal drug.

THCF opens doors

The Hemp and Cannabis Foundation (THCF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping patients legally gain access to medical marijuana, recently announced “medical marijuana clinics” in Missoula on Nov. 18 and Billings the day prior. While currently scheduled as one-day events, THC plans to open “more permanent clinics in established locations” in the future, according to an organization press release.

Becoming a Patient

Our physicians require that each patient have current medical records that document the existence of one of the conditions for which medical marijuana is authorized under their state law. You must either obtain your medical records yourself (which may involve a fee) and bring them in to us, or you may authorize that your medical records be faxed or mailed to one of our offices. Please BE SURE to clarify with the doctor's office that you only need 2-3 visits of chart notes pertaining to your qualifying condition, NOT your entire medical record. Have them include any relevant x-ray or MRI reports (not actual film), and also YOUR name and phone number.

Since our doctors are consulting with patients solely about their qualification for medicinal cannabis, and can not act as a patient's primary physician, we require that all of our patients have at least one other current physician.

Please fax relevant medical records to our main office: 503.235.0120 or deliver/mail them to your local THCF clinic.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

After checking in, we must copy your state identification card for our file, pull your medical records, and create our THCF medical file. You can expect to fill out some questionnaire forms whether you are a new or returning patient. There is a 20 minute orientation video to educate you about your state’s medical marijuana program, and then you will have time to ask a staff member any remaining questions you may have. What follows will be a non-invasive exam by an RN or NP, a meeting with our MD who will review your entire situation, make his determination, and fill out necessary forms. Once we both have copies of all necessary information and permit forms filled out, you will be ready to go!

Please call our office for further information or to schedule an appointment.

Mission

The Hemp & Cannabis Foundation is working to end adult marijuana prohibition, restore industrial hemp and help medical marijuana patients. Our goal is to educate people about the medicinal, social and industrial uses for cannabis in order to restore hemp cultivation and end adult cannabis prohibition.

Hemp may be the plant that started humans down the road toward civilization with the invention of agriculture itself. All archaeologists agree that cannabis was among the first crops purposely cultivated by human beings more than 6,000 years ago, and perhaps more than 12,000 years ago, and that hemp may well be the first "crop."

Hemp, marijuana or cannabis grows more rapidly than any other plant in temperate and cooler climates, and grows well in the tropics too. Hemp or cannabis produce more energy, oil, protein, fiber and medicine than any other plant.

Hemp or cannabis where made illegal based upon a racist misinformation campaign to protect and enrich the petro-chemical industries. We call this misinformation campaign "reefer madness," after the title of a 1937 film that purported to show how "a deadly new drug called marijuana" caused people to go insane and kill their family and friends.

While marijuana is prohibited, industrial hemp will be economically prohibitive due to the artificial regulatory burdens imposed by the prohibition of marijuana. When marijuana and cannabis are legally regulated, industrial hemp will return to its rightful place in our agricultural economy.

Restoring industrial hemp to its rightful place in agriculture today will return much control to our farmers, and away from the multinational corporations that dominate our political process and destroy our environment. These capital-intensive, non-sustainable, and environmentally destructive industries have usurped our economic resources and clear-cut huge tracts of the world's forests, given us massive oil spills, wars, toxic waste, massive worldwide pollution, global warming and the destruction of entire ecosystems.

Prohibiting the cultivation of this ancient plant, the most productive source of fiber, oil and protein on our planet, is evil. In its place we have industries that give us processes and products that have led to unprecedented ecological crisis and worldwide destruction of the biological heritage that we should bequeath to our children, grandchildren and future generations. Restore hemp!

Programs

THCF has a variety of programs to educate and assist the community.

Perhaps most notably, THCF Medical Clinics has offices in 8 states and has helped over 50,000 patients obtain their state's permit for medical marijuana. Our physicians help qualified patients get a state permit to legally possess, use and grow medical marijuana. Our clinics help patients learn to cultivate cannabis and teach the about alternatives to smoking, such as vaporization and making cannabis foods and extracts with oil, butter, alcohol and glycerine.

THCF has produced almost 500 episodes of our live weekly TV show, Cannabis Common Sense. Our show is on cable television in Oregon, Washington, California, Colorado and Michigan, and is available, now, on demand on our websites.

THCF publishes a periodical called Hemp News. Hemp News is the oldest online ezine, which began posting in 1991 on Usenet newsgroups, the predecessor of today's world-wide web.

THCF Medical Gardens has, with state permits, helped medical marijuana patients obtain medical marijuana and seeds and cuttings to start their own garden. THCF Medical Gardens is proud to announce that we won the top 4 awards in Oregon NORML's 2008 Oregon Medical Cannabis Awards, a doubleblind barcoded judging of cannabis based on six criteria, potency, aroma, taste, smoothness, appearance and medicinal effect.

THCF also purchases advertising to educate the public and tell the truth about hemp and cannabis.

History

The Hemp & Cannabis Foundation was founded by Douglas Paul Stanford in August 1999 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. THCF has an affiliated poliical commitee that was founded in 1990, CRRH or the Campaign for the Restoration and Regulation of Hemp. CRRH has developed a legislative model to legally regulate marijuana production and sales to adults called the Cannabis Tax Act.

THCF has helped 50,000 patients obtain their state's permit to legally possess, use and grow marijuana. THCF has produced 500 episodes of our TV program, Cannabis Common Sense. THCF's Hemp News is the oldest on-line ezine, since 1991.
